Parts of a Tower Crane
Several of the most remarkable structures throughout the world are made with cranes. The newer cranes are utilized to be able to reach higher heights. Tower cranes offer the means to lift and transport building parts, materials and tools all around a construction location. There are several different parts that assemble a tower crane once they are put together. Putting a tower crane together uses different pieces of construction machinery.

Base
Typically, the tower crane base is made from a steel unit. The base is connected to a concrete pad that is custom-designed. This kind of set-up gives the structure stability. Overall, the construction needs to be well engineered and built in order to operate at optimum safety.

Mast
The tower crane's mast provides the equipment with its overall height. The mast is built out of individual steel sections that are attached together. The amount of parts determines the height of the crane. Typically, a tower crane has a design that allows the mast to grow during construction by adding further sections as the building process continues. This way the height of the crane can be specified, making certain that it has sufficient height to efficiently and safely perform the needed work.

Slewing Unit/Top Climber
A slewing unit is located at the top of the mast. This unit houses the machines and the motor which enables the crane to rotate. A top climber is the piece of machinery that enables the mast to grow. The top climber is situated just underneath the slewing unit. Hydraulic rams inside the top climber allow the slewing unit to be disconnected from the mast by raising it higher.

Boom
"Boom" is a term which particularly refers to the working arm of a tower crane. The boom is made of steel sections attached together, which extend out from the top of the slewing unit, parallel to the ground. There is a trolley attached to the bottom which can extend the length of the boom. This trolley has the hoisting device.
